JOBS & LEVELS
Every Resident of the Base must have a job. When a loner wishes to join the Base, they must enter the mess hall and draw a job at random from the urn on the piano. The act of drawing a job is seen as a very important ceremony. When a character is created on the site, they are neither a Resident or a loner. If you wish for your character to be a Resident, please post a short post in the Piano Room sub-board. A staff member will post a randomly-selected job in reply. No further roleplaying occurs on these threads. If you wish your character to remain a loner, no further ceremony is required beyond getting your biography accepted.
Levels are a way of gaining strength in a character's job. Levels aren't mention in-character, but become a huge part of creating threads. Listed below are the requirements to level up. In order to reach level two, you must complete the tasks listed under level one. There are no tasks under level five because there is no higher standard at the moment. Leveling up is not required, but encouraged for all residents. There are benefits both in-character and out of character. A character with a higher level has more authority in the Base and among his peers. A member with leveled characters can by extra items from the store (URL NEEDED HERE) and is often awarded extra privileges around the site.
001.Scout The duty of Scout is taken very seriously. It is one of the most dangerous jobs available and requires interacting with loners. Scouts leave the Base to search through the forest and the city for useful items, more information, or even new people. At times, they even hunt for prey to bring back to the Base, but usually only during winter. Scouts tend to form close bonds with each other and most commonly leave the Base in groups of 2 or 3, depending on their mission. It is very dangerous for a Scout to leave the Base alone. At times Scouts lead other Residents to places outside the Base.
Level 1 - 1 thread in the forest - 1 thread in the city - 1 thread in the Base
Level 2 - 2 threads anywhere outside the Base - 1 thread with a loner - 1 thread in the Base
Level 3 - lead 1 scouting thread - 2 threads with a loner - 1 fight thread outside of the base - 2 anywhere threads
Level 4 - lead 2 scouting threads - earn 1 Wizard level - 2 anywhere threads
Level 5
002. Steward This job is seen as the opposite of scouting. Stewards don't often leave the Base, but are instead expected to learn a variety of skills. Stewards maintain the Base by cooking, fixing things, and taking care of all Residents. Whether their "popular" or not, they're usually well-known by everyone of any job.

Level 2 - 3 threads in the base - 1 thread outside the base
Level 3 - 1 thread in the library - 1 thread with a loner - 1 thread taking care of another character - 2 anywhere threads
Level 4 - 2 threads in the library - 1 thread fixing something - 2 threads outside of the base - 1 thread in the mine
Level 5
003. Wizard Few people are chosen for this job. Those who are serve as soldiers or guards. They defend the Base from outsiders or other difficulties. This is also a job that any Resident can take up on top of their usual job. For example, the skill of using magic might be quite useful to a Scout or Miner.

004. MinerA pretty self-explanatory job. Deep beneath the Base is a mine, but not for the usual things. They search for various items, tools, or relics that have become buried with time. The Miners are also working to build a bomb shelter large enough to house all Residents. After working the duty of a Miner for a while, they tend to become pale and sensitive to light. GardenerThis is a simple, quiet job, but a very necessary one. The Gardeners grow the food for all of the Residents. Despite the title, this also includes taking care of the Base's supply of chickens and goats. Certain times of year, Gardeners leave the Base (with a group of Scouts, of course) to forage for food and seeds.
