Welcome to the future. It's the year 2365, and the apocalypse has come and gone. The world sank into war and never recovered. The majority of human life was lost. Those who survived banded together or became nomadic. Technology was slowly lost over the following decades, and today electricity is just a myth of the past. Artifacts of the time before the end are littered everywhere. Cities stand as monuments to what life used to be.
Outside of one such ruined city is an old military base that still holds human life. Inhabited mostly by young people, the Base is perhaps the last gem of civilization in the world. Residents of the Base are required to take a job in order to give back to the community that shelters them. These jobs are assigned randomly, so a Resident never gets to choose their own occupation.
In the last generation, there has been a surprising turn of events: magic has returned to the land. Or, at least, this land. There's no proof that magic can be used in other parts of the world as no one has had any communication with anyone else. Learning magic as a Wizard is a job a select few are given at the Base. They are charged with protecting the Base against strangers and the elements of a war-torn world.
There are those, however, who do not swear loyalty to the Base. They lurk in the city and the nearby forest and survive entirely by their own wits. Some are neutral to the daily activities of the Base, but others might just oppose it...
